“The Farmstead offers a rare opportunity to re-focus attention on the beginning moments and extraordinary events that formed our early WNY community—as we create a premier cultural heritage destination.” -Gary Costello, Hull Foundation President
What We Do:
Hull Family Home & Farmstead is a 25-acre historic site in Lancaster anchored by the Hull home, the oldest standing masonry dwelling in Erie County. The only cultural site focusing on local pre-Erie Canal history, the Farmstead provides a unique interactive experience enabling thousands of Western New York (WNY) residents, students and visitors to learn firsthand—in a dynamic living history setting—about early pioneer life in the region.
Why We're Great:
Hull Family Home & Farmstead is one of the most significant historic sites in WNY. With the oldest building surviving from Revolutionary War settlers, it provides a unique glimpse of pre-Erie Canal pioneer life. Rescued from demolition in 1992, the site brings historical learning alive with tours, field trips, history camps, re-enactments and theme events. Support is desperately needed to keep the site open, ensure visitor safety and continue restoration/education.
